- Completely automated with the use of a thermostat and cycle timer in conjunction with an electric solenoid water valve.
- Helps maintain high levels of feed intake during heat stress periods, minimizing loss in production during the hottest summer months.
- Soak the cow, not the feed in the feed line with 180º nozzle assemblies.
- In a typical installation, systems run on 16 minute cycles. Soaking occurs for 4 minutes on and 12 minutes off with recirculation fans running the entire 16 minute cycle to maximize the cooling effect and to dry livestock for the next soaking cycle.
- Soaked cows returning to well ventilated stalls lengthens the cooling effect and it’s benefits.

When the Temperature-Humidity Index (THI) exceeds 72, livestock begin to experience heat stress—resulting in elevated respiration rates and declines in both milk production and reproductive efficiency. One of the most effective strategies to mitigate heat stress is the use of a targeted soaking system installed over the feed line, parlor entry and exit lanes, and holding pens. J&D Manufacturing’s Soaking System is engineered to deliver consistent, effective heat relief by supplying all necessary components for a fully automated setup. When paired with J&D’s high-performance recirculation fans, the system delivers superior evaporative cooling—enhancing animal comfort, productivity, and overall herd health during periods of heat stress.
